We have collected some cool engineering quotes from various sources which is sure to get you thinking. If you have some awesome quotes which you think worth sharing, feel free to leave it on comment.
- “Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.” – Brian W. Kernighan
- “Innovation, invention, and engineering without a social conscious will merely allow us to destroy ourselves in more creative ways.” – Rich Kressly

- “When man went to the moon, it was the greatest scientific achievement in history. When the Challenger accident occurred, it was an engineering disaster.” – Gerald A. Jones
- “A good scientist is a person with original ideas. A good engineer is a person who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible. There are no prima donnas in engineering.” -Freeman Dyson
- “A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” – Antoine de Saint-Exupery

- “Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell ’em, ‘Certainly I can!’ Then get busy and find out how to do it.” -Theodore Roosevelt
- “At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.” – Igor Sikorsky
- “A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.” – Douglas Adams

It’s “social CONSCIENCE,” Kressly. I think engineers purposely avoid learning to write so they don’t get stuck doing all the documentation. If we didn’t already have Technical Writers, someone would have to invent us.
